Description:

The University seeks to appoint an open-ended, full time Lecturer or Senior
Lecturer in English Language with a specialism in Early or Late Modern English
(and/or Scots), within the department of Linguistics and English Language in
the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences. Current related
strengths in the department include Old and Middle English, English historical
phonology, English historical syntax, English dialects and dialectology, Scots
and Scottish English, language contact and the history of English, and global
Englishes. The department is interested in adding to our specialisms with an
appointment in the Early and/or Late Modern period(s). Experience in analysis
of historical corpora is desirable. 

The successful candidate will be expected to have an excellent publication
record for their career stage, and to demonstrate potential for attracting
external grant funding. The potential to make a significant contribution to
the teaching and research culture of the School is essential. The successful
candidate will offer courses at both UG and MSc level and will be expected to
supervise and recruit PhD students.

There is an opportunity for appointment at senior lecturer level, for which
the post holders will be expected to have demonstrated leadership experience
and to contribute actively to the management of the Subject Area.
