Description:

Young and research intensive, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU
Singapore) is ranked among the world’s top universities. The School of
Humanities at NTU invites outstanding academics to apply for a position in
Linguistics and Multilingual Studies at the rank of Full or Associate
Professor.

The successful applicant will be an acknowledged leader in a field within
linguistics, with expertise in the application of digital technologies to the
analysis of large data sets. Relevant fields include, but are not limited to,
corpus linguistics, computational linguistics, digital linguistics and
language typology. In this age of digital transformations, scholars in
different fields of linguistics are engaging increasingly more deeply with
digital platforms and tool-boxes and handling large collections of data. The
candidate should have a proven track record of excellence in teaching,
research and publication, including successes in securing grants and working
in collaboration with academics in cognate fields. The candidate is expected
to play a key role in the School’s ‘Digital Humanities Cluster’, an initiative
from an interdisciplinary network of faculty and researchers working in
different subject areas sharing a passion in the possibilities of digital
solutions for teaching and research.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in
digital linguistics and digital humanities, and must also be prepared to teach
one or more core courses within the linguistics programme, such as Phonetics,
Phonology, or Syntax.

The teaching load is typically 2/2. This appointment is expected to begin in
late 2023/early 2024.
 
Emoluments: 
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The
University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package.
