Each year the Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Texas at
Austin welcomes applications from candidates interested in pursuing graduate
studies in German culture, foreign language pedagogy, linguistics, film, or
literature. The University of Texas at Austin offers outstanding research
opportunities with a first-rate library and the Department hosts the

internationally recognized for their scholarship and numerous courses in other
departments at the University also relate to the core fields of German
Studies. Our graduate students regularly present papers at international and
national conferences, publish scholarly articles, and win fellowships for
study and research as well as teaching awards. We also have an established
reputation for placing our alumni into both academic and non-academic
positions.

Applications for Fall 2023 are due on Friday, January 13, 2023.

Graduate students accepted into our program typically receive five years of
financial support in the form of fellowships or teaching positions. Funded
students also receive tuition assistance and health insurance benefits. We
hope to be able to provide outstanding candidates with additional financial
support.
