Description:

The University of Illinois Chicago Department of Linguistics invites
applications for a tenure-track appointment in computational language science
at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2023. Candidates
should have a robust research agenda studying any aspect of language from a
computational perspective. Specializations include, but are not limited to,
corpus linguistics, computational semantics/pragmatics, natural language
generation, and natural language understanding. 

The successful candidate will be joining the team of faculty and staff who run
UIC’s thriving interdisciplinary program – the BS in Computer Science and
Linguistics, a collaboration between the Department of Linguistics in the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Computer Science
in the College of Engineering.

Responsibilities include pursuing an active research agenda, teaching courses
in linguistics and computational linguistics, and contributing to the
Department, the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies, and Linguistics, the
university, and the community through service activities. The successful
candidate will play an important role in the continued development of our
interdepartmental program. The standard teaching load is two courses each
semester (four courses per academic year). 

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold the Ph.D. in linguistics, computational linguistics,
computer science, or a closely related field by August 15, 2023. ABD
applicants may be considered.
