Description:

We are offering a 36-month postdoc position within the project ‘Shades of
grammar: The cognitive basis of morphological productivity in polysynthetic
languages’, funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) with a five-year VIDI
grant (Principal Investigator: Dr. Maria Mazzoli, University of Groningen).

Qualifications: 
 - a PhD degree in Psycholinguistics, possibly with a focus on (morphological)
priming. PhD degrees in related disciplines may also be considered, provided
that the candidate’s past work demonstrates a solid expertise in experimental
design and priming
 - knowledge and experience in using statistical methods and software of data
analysis (e.g. R) and/or software for response-time data collection such as
OpenSesame
 - availability for fieldwork six months to one year
 - a interest in collaborative methods and community-based language research
 - research skills as shown by the candidate’s publishing track record, or a
demonstrable capacity to develop such a record
 - good command of English, which is the project working language.

Preferred qualifications: 
 - you identify yourself as Indigenous person (of a community speaking a
language which could be relevant to the project, i.e. features noun
incorporation and/or lexical affixation to the verb)
 - you have familiarity with/ specific interest in the study of polysynthetic
languages and morphologies
 - you speak a polysynthetic language
 - you have leadership and mentoring skills, and are willing to support the
supervision of the PhD student in our team.
