Description:

The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of
Humanities & Social Sciences at Utah State University (Logan campus)
is seeking a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow. The successful candidate
must show commitment to teaching undergraduate courses in linguistics
and demonstrate expertise in one or more areas in linguistics. This is
a one-year position with a possibility of renewal or applying for a
tenure-track position in subsequent years (based on budgetary
approval).

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, and are not limited to:
 - Teaching a variety of courses in general and applied linguistics (3
& 3 course load);
 - Service for the department, college, and university;
 - Mentoring students inside and outside regular teaching hours.

Possible courses to teach include: Languages in Global and Historical
Context, Language in Social Context, and Languages & Religions. These
can be adapted based on the applicant’s interests and expertise.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
 - Ph.D. in linguistics, applied or theoretical linguistics, or a
related field conferred within the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications:
 - Previous experience with teaching undergraduate linguistics courses
and ability to develop new, interesting courses for students of
linguistics.
 - Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
 - Commitment and experience working with students from diverse
backgrounds.

 - A short description/overview of sample linguistics courses that the
applicant would be willing/able to teach.
