TUNISIA TESOL 8TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

ELT in Action: Norm and Re-Form
1-3 December 2023
Hôtel Méhari Hammamet 5* Hammamet-Tunisia

Call for Participation
Globalization has rendered English a global language. The polycentric
nature of Global English led to the emergence of the concept of Global
Education which refers, according to Pratama & Yuliati (2016), to
integrating global issues into classroom teaching. The issues address
the situation of a constantly globalizing world that broke
international barriers which transpires through the use of the English
language worldwide. Tunisia, where English Language Teaching (ELT) is
no exception. The use of English in the wider society is undergoing
constant change at numerous levels. The questions practitioners,
researchers, and academics constantly ask most often concern the norms
to be adopted in teaching, ways of teaching, and, most importantly,
how to reform established ways of teaching. ELT professionals are
challenged to reimagine teaching/learning so that it matches the
global changes which encompass the political, socio-economic,
technological, educational, and professional levels.
Tunisia TESOL 8th international conference on ELF in Action: Norm and
Re-Form addresses the above-mentioned questions with a focus on
current and emerging practices in teaching English at the primary,
secondary, professional, and university levels. Tunisia TESOL is
particularly interested in attempts to reform the teaching of subjects
like literature, culture studies, and applied linguistics to adapt to
global change and to adapt teaching methods to the dynamic nature of
English as a global language. The current issue will be looked at from
the lenses of all stakeholders; learners, researchers, professionals,
and education specialists including course and test designers,
material developers, software developers, etc. The conference also
seeks to animate the debate within the ELT community from Tunisia and
around the world on how to face the ever-changing nature of ELT and to
share proposals for re-form, innovation and change.
The steering committee welcomes contributions in the form of
presentations, workshops, poster sessions, and/or round table
discussions which address any of the following, but not exclusively,
