Description:
The Centre for Advanced Research in Experimental and Applied
Linguistics (ARiEAL) at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario,
Canada, invites applications from highly qualified and outstanding
international graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, early career
and/or established researchers working in the field of cognitive
science of language. The goal of this award is to provide support for
international researchers and students whose research activities align
with that at ARiEAL. While this opportunity is open to any
international scholar, preference will be given to graduate students
and early career researchers from underserved countries, especially to
students and researchers from Brazil, Cuba, Ghana, Jamaica, and
Nigeria, and war-zone countries.

ARiEAL will fund up to four international scholars to be in-residence
at ARiEAL for up to 120 days in the Fall 2023/Winter 2024 terms
(roughly between September 1 and April 30). The applicants may
indicate the preferred dates of their stay. Each fellowship is valued
at roughly $12,000CAD and includes airfare, lodging, some funding for
meals, University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), and other incidental
fees. Research and research collaboration are key foci of this program
and selected scholars are expected to contribute to our extensive
research activities. Selected scholars will also have the chance to
showcase their research at one of our workshops or speaker events and
to attend classes.

ARiEAL is housed within the Faculty of Humanities at McMaster
University. ARiEAL is a research centre that brings together a
community of researchers ranging from undergraduate trainees to
established scholars and enables the researchers to excel in their
problem-driven language science research in fundamental, experimental,
and applied linguistics. For more information on our researchers,
research labs, and research areas, please visit our website.

based on the academic standing of each applicant, their research
profile, and how their research proposal aligns with the research
conducted at ARiEAL. Identifying a potential ARiEAL researcher that
best aligns with your research proposal is highly encouraged.
