Chair Professor/Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor
(Linguistics) Department of Linguistics and Translation [Ref. C/800/09]

Duties: Conduct quality and innovative research and publish in high-impact
journals; teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate
levels; and undertake administrative duties in course development, student
activities, or programme management.

Requirements: A PhD in Linguistics or related disciplines with competence in
undertaking teaching and research in Linguistics and Language Applications,
particularly in interdisciplinary areas across subject fields, including but
not limited to: brain studies, neuroscience, psychology, cognition, computing,
big data, AI, mathematics, philosophy, history, terminology, translation,
cognitive studies of translation, and human-machine interactive translation.
Applicants in conventional linguistic subfields such as empirical or corpus
linguistics, general linguistics, semantics, pragmatics, language acquisition
and learning, pedagogical linguistics, sociolinguistics, phonetics and
phonology are welcome. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong
interest, training and publication record in interdisciplinary research or
phonology. Applications for senior post at Associate Professor level or above
are particularly welcome.

Excellent teaching and professional experience with international exposure and
establishment, strong research and administrative ability, and a proven record
of publications would be advantages.

 - Candidates for Chair Professor and Professor should have outstanding
research/grant records and international reputation.
 - Candidates for Associate Professor should have a number of high-impact
publications and grants, and a demonstrated ability/potential to develop a
research area on their own.
 - Candidates for Assistant Professor should have demonstrated potential for
high-impact publication and grant capture.

Salary and Conditions of Service: 
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual
performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and
dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial
appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
