Das Norddeutsche Linguistische Kolloquium (NLK) wird seit 1989
jährlich wechselnd von einer norddeutschen Universität ausgerichtet.
Es hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren als Veranstaltung etabliert, die
die Vielfalt aktueller linguistischer Forschungsarbeit im
norddeutschen Raum sichtbar macht und Gelegenheit zum inhaltlichen und
methodischen Austausch gibt. Das NLK wird traditionell von
Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen organisiert und bietet
Wissenschaftler*innen unterschiedlicher – insbesondere früherer –
Karrierestufen eine Plattform, auf der sie ihre Forschungsprojekte und
-ergebnisse aus allen Bereichen der Linguistik vorstellen und
diskutieren können. Auch Studierende, die sich in der Abschlussphase
ihres Studiums befinden, sind herzlich zur Teilnahme eingeladen.

The North German Linguistic Colloquium (NLK) has been organised
annually by a university in northern Germany since 1989. In recent
years, it has established itself as an event that makes the diversity
of current linguistic research work in northern Germany visible and
provides an opportunity for exchange on content and methodology. The
NLK is traditionally organised by young academics and offers academics
of different - especially earlier - career stages a platform where
they can present and discuss their research projects and results from
all areas of linguistics. Students who are in the final phase of their
studies are also cordially invited to participate.

Von der Theorie zur Praxis: Linguistik und ihre Relevanz für die
Gesellschaft

Linguistik ist keine rein theoretische Disziplin, sie ist auch
gesellschaftsrelevant und hat einen praktischen Nutzen. Das NLK 2024
möchte zur Beantwortung der Frage nach ebendieser gesellschaftlichen
Relevanz einladen: Wie können linguistische Theorien und Methoden dazu
beitragen, praktische Probleme zu lösen und gesellschaftliche
Herausforderungen zu meistern? In welchen Bereichen können
linguistische Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten besonders wirkungsvoll
eingesetzt werden? Und wie kann die Linguistik dazu beitragen, die
Verständigung und das Zusammenleben in einer vielfältigen und
globalisierten Gesellschaft zu verbessern?
Auf dem NLK 2024 sind alle Beiträge willkommen, die diese und ähnliche
Fragen aus theoretischer oder praktischer Perspektive beleuchten und
aufzeigen, wie die Linguistik einen Beitrag zur Lösung konkreter
gesellschaftlicher Fragen leisten kann.
Wir freuen uns zudem sehr, dass das NLK durch drei  Keynotes von Prof.
Dr. Anja Binanzer (Hannover, Deutsch als Zweit- und Fremdsprache),
Prof. Dr. Berry Claus  (Hannover, Semantik und Pragmatik) und Dr. Gea
de Jong-Lendle (Marburg, Forensische Phonetik) ergänzt wird!
Das NLK bietet sowohl Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen als auch
erfahrenen Wissenschaftler*innen eine Plattform, auf der sie ihre
Forschungsprojekte und -ergebnisse aus allen Bereichen der Linguistik
vorstellen und diskutieren können. Auch Studierende, die sich in der
Abschlussphase ihres Studiums befinden, sind herzlich dazu eingeladen,
Beiträge einzureichen.
Wie auch in den vergangenen Jahren wird das Kolloquium nicht auf
bestimmte Sprachen, Themenbereiche oder Methoden der Linguistik
begrenzt sein, Beiträge aus allen Fachbereichen sind willkommen.
Mögliche Vortragssprachen sind Deutsch und Englisch. Ein
Tagungsbeitrag wird voraussichtlich nicht erhoben.

Bitte senden Sie Ihr Abstract (max. 400 Wörter exklusive
Literaturangaben und Beispielen) unter Angabe des gewünschten Formats
(Poster oder Vortrag) und der Vortragssprache (Deutsch oder Englisch)
als Word-Dokument (.docx) bis zum 03.12.2023 an die folgende
E-Mail-Adresse: nlk2024 at uni-hannover.de. Eine Rückmeldung zu Ihrem
Beitrag erhalten Sie bis Mitte Januar 2024.



>From theory to practice: linguistics and its relevance to society

Linguistics is not a purely theoretical discipline, it is also
relevant to society and has a practical use. The NLK 2024 would like
to invite you to answer the question of precisely this social
relevance: How can linguistic theories and methods contribute to
solving practical problems and mastering societal challenges? In which
areas can linguistic knowledge and skills be used particularly
effectively? And how can linguistics contribute to improving
understanding and coexistence in a diverse and globalised society?
At NLK 2024, we welcome all contributions that shed light on these and
similar questions from a theoretical or practical perspective and show
how linguistics can contribute to solving concrete societal issues.
We are also very pleased that the NLK will be complemented by three
keynotes by Prof. Dr. Anja Binanzer (Hannover, German as a Second and
Foreign Language), Prof. Dr. Berry Claus (Hannover, Semantics and
Pragmatics) and Dr. Gea de Jong-Lendle (Marburg, Forensic Phonetics)!
As in previous years, the colloquium will not be limited to specific
languages, subject areas or methods in linguistics; contributions from
all subject areas are welcome. Possible languages of presentation are
German and English. There will probably be no conference fee.

Please send your abstract (max. 400 words excluding bibliographical
references and examples) in Word format (.docx) to the following
e-mail address by 03.12.2023, indicating the desired format (poster or
presentation) and the language of presentation (German or English):
nlk2024 at uni-hannover.de. You will receive feedback on your
contribution by mid-January 2024.
