Description:

The Department of Linguistics seeks applications for a full-time
preceptor in American Sign Language (ASL). The appointment is expected
to begin July 1, 2024. The preceptor will be responsible for teaching
beginning and/or intermediate in-person courses as part of our
existing six-semester ASL course sequence, with the opportunity to
develop and teach advanced courses in ASL, Deaf history and culture,
ASL Literature, sign language linguistics, or related fields depending
on student interest and instructor expertise, and working with the
Linguistics department to support and develop activities and events on
campus connected to the ASL curriculum. The position is initially for
three years, renewable for a term of up to five years (eight years in
total) contingent upon performance, enrollments, and curricular need.

4. Teaching/advising statement (describing teaching approach and
philosophy and practices)
5. Statement describing efforts to encourage diversity, inclusion, and
belonging, including past, current, and anticipated future
contributions in these areas.
6. Names and contact information of at least three referees, who will
be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of
recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted.
Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is
considered complete only when at least three letters have been
received.
