The American Sign Language Program in the Center for Languages
Literatures and Cultures and the Center for American Sign Language
Teacher Training and Deaf Equity (in development) at The Ohio State
University invite applications for a position in American Sign
Language, Open Specialization, that is equivalent to the rank of
tenured Associate Professor or Professor.

The Ohio State University is located in the heart of Columbus, which
is a thriving city with a large Deaf community. The American Sign
Language (ASL) Program is administered by the Center for Languages
Literatures and Cultures. ASL is a successful, rapidly growing program
that includes an elementary language sequence with robust
undergraduate enrollments, an ASL Studies Minor, and is in the process
of finalizing an ASL Studies Major. ASL is also creating the ASL
Center for Teacher Training and Deaf Equity, which will house an ASL
online Teaching Certificate as well as serve as a hub for recruitment,
retention, mentoring and advising of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and CODA
students.

The successful candidate will be committed to bolstering a diverse,
inclusive, and innovative ASL program and will have a faculty
appointment in a department in the College of Arts & Sciences. They
will be expected to be actively involved in the Center for American
Sign Language for Teacher Training and Deaf Equity through teacher
training and mentoring, curricular innovation, and fundraising. The
successful candidate will teach courses in the Undergraduate ASL
curriculum, the Center’s online Teacher Training Certificate, and in
their area of expertise in their appointed department.

Qualifications:
Candidates are expected to hold a PhD in any field related to American
Sign Language. The successful candidate will have a strong record of
scholarly accomplishment in their discipline. The Appointment is
contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other
information required by law and/or university policies, including but
not limited to a criminal background check.

Application:
A competitive application consists of the following required elements
uploaded to the link below: a cover letter, curriculum vitae,
separate research and teaching statements, and three letters of
