Call for Papers:

The Journal of Arabic Sociolinguistics is published by Edinburgh
University Press. The journal seeks to expand and develop theories and
methods in linguistics research. Therefore it welcomes studies that
are built on data from Arabic, and that use a solid theoretical and
methodological framework.

We welcome articles that deal with issues pertaining to the relation
between linguistic variation and identity, variation and
sociolinguistic variables (including but not limited to location,
social class, education, age, gender and urbanization) and variation
and political contexts. They may also focus on code switching in the
Arab world, language policy and the impact of diglossia as well as
issues related to pidgin codes in the Arab world. The journal also
welcomes ethnographic studies and studies that relate anthropology to
linguistics and sociolinguistics to education. The journal aims to
highlight research which applies new theories and methodologies to
Arabic data, while addressing a wider audience of linguists, in order
to engage them with findings from research about Arabic.
