Education (40%)
You will
 - Provide high-quality education in the field of synchronic French
linguistics in Bachelor and Master programs with French as major.
 - Initially teach 24 ECTS related to French Linguistics and
Proficiency (full list of courses via link below). The teaching load
may evolve in function of the course programme and internal
consultation with colleagues. The total teaching load will always be
between 18 and 24 ECTS.
 - Play a role in developing activating, student-centred and
competence-driven programme components and study programmes.
 - Supervise students during the writing of bachelor’s and master’s
papers.

Research (40%)
 - Develop high-quality scientific research in synchronic French
linguistics. A connection with current research in the linguistics
department (under the broad umbrella of usage-based linguistics) is an
asset.
 - Acquire and manage national and international research funding.
 - Publish in international, peer-reviewed journals and will write,
edit or contribute to books published by leading academic publishers.
 - Develop an international scientific network.
 - Supervise PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

Services (20%)
 - Play a role in the provision of both academic services and service
to society, within the institution and externally.

Organisation and leadership
 - Accept coordinating responsibilities in the areas of education,
research and/or service provision and you will contribute to policy.

Profile
 - You hold a PhD in Linguistics (French), or in another relevant
discipline.
 - You can demonstrate several years of postdoctoral experience (or
equivalent).
 - You have established an excellent international research portfolio
with academic peer-reviewed publications in the field of French
synchronic linguistics.
 - You have demonstrable experience in teaching French in an academic
context. Experience in teaching French to non-French speakers in an
academic context is an asset.
 - You should be willing to obtain a CEFR B2 level of proficiency in
Dutch.

What we offer
 - A full-time appointment as a member of the Senior Academic Staff.
The level of your appointment (assistant professor, associate
professor, professor or full professor) is determined on the basis of
your professional experience and academic qualifications. Junior ZAP
members are usually offered temporary appointment as a tenure track
assistant professor for five years, which is then followed by
permanent appointment as an associate professor. Appointment as an
associate professor or higher leads to permanent appointment (tenure)
after a maximum of three years.
 - After a positive evaluation of a PhD project application you
submit, an attractive starter package consisting of a four-year PhD
project and €15 000 of consumables to boost your research from the
start of your employment at the University of Antwerp.
 - Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scales
for Senior Academic Staff, plus ecocheques, Internet-connectivity
allowance and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public
transport costs for commuting.
 - Planned starting date: 15 September 2024
 - You will do most of your work at the City campus of the University
of Antwerp.
