Meeting Description:

The Ninth International Symposium of Linguistics (Bucharest, May 23-24
2024)

The symposium is part of the traditional scientific meetings organised
by the Romanian Academy's “Iorgu Iordan – Alexandru Rosetti” Institute
of Linguistics.
The conference is open to national and international researchers with
an invitation to participate in debates on various fields of
linguistics, and on analyses of the Romanian language from
comparative, synchronic and, in particular, diachronic, perspectives.
This year's edition is dedicated to The 75th Anniversary of The
Institute of Linguistics.
Invited speakers:
-       Prof. Roberta D’Alessandro, University of Utrecht, Netherlands
-       Prof. Adam Ledgeway, University of Cambridge, UK
-       Prof. David Pesetsky, Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
US
-       Prof. Arhonto Terzi, University of Patras, Greece

Themes/sections:
- historical linguistics, history of Romanian language, philology
- morphology and syntax
- lexicology, lexicography, phraseology
- dialectology, geo-linguistics and onomastics
- phonetics, phonology
- Romance linguistics
- pragmatics and stylistics
- special session (workshop): "Theoretical and empirical issues the
study of clause size" (distinct call for papers)

Call for Papers:

Submissions are invited for 20-minute (+ 10 minutes for discussion)
oral presentations. Abstracts that do not exceed 500 words should be
submitted to simpozionlingvistica75 at gmail.com.

April 15-25: reviewing process
April 26: outcomes of review process
April 29 – May 11: payment of conference fee (250 Lei/50 Euros)

Information
The fee covers the symposium folder, coffee breaks, and two lunches.
Accommodation and transport costs are be covered by the participants.
The papers selected by the scientific committee shall be published in
the journals edited by the Institute of Linguistics.
Length of presentation: 20 minutes (+ 10 minutes for discussion).
Talks can be given in Romanian, English or French.
