Meeting Description:

The conference aims at covering all aspects of contact linguistics,
geolinguistics, language perception, language planning and
revitalization of European minority languages.

Venue
The conference will be hosted by the University of Turin and the
University of Aosta Valley and will take place in Turin and Bard.
Presentations may be held in English, French, German or Italian.
Slides and/or handouts should be in English.

The deadline is now extended! You can submit your abstract by
February, 29th.

Call for Papers:

Conference topics

The conference aims at covering all aspects of contact linguistics,
geolinguistics, language perception, language planning and
revitalization of minority languages. Scholars working on language
variation and change in European minority languages and varieties are
invited to submit their proposals on the following topic areas:

Documenting / describing minority languages using different sources:
texts, grammars, dictionaries, atlases, language corpora, and new
technologies;
The safeguarding of minority languages: language planning, learning,
and teaching, juridical aspects;
Mountain linguistics with a particular focus on Alps as a linguistic
and cultural area;
Geolinguistics and new methodological and conceptual approaches;
Contact linguistics, sociolinguistic typology, linguistic and cultural
landscape;
Interdisciplinary approaches (language history, onomastics,
ethnography, cartography).

Presentations may be held in English, French, German or Italian.
Slides and/or handouts should be in English.

Abstracts focusing on, but not limited to, the above-mentioned topics
may be submitted to miles at unito.it by February 29th, 2024.

Abstracts should not exceed 400 words (excluding references) and may
be written in one of the conference languages.

A selection of the papers presented at the conference will be
published in a peer-reviewed volume.
