Dans le cadre de ces activités de recherches en Synthèse de Parole à
partir
du Texte et en Traitement Automatique de la Langue Naturelle, le CNET
(Centre National d'Etudes des Télécommunications) propose une bourse de
thèse sur le sujet suivant :
SUJET DE THESE :
La qualité d'un système de synthèse automatique de la parole à partir du
texte est naturellement conditionnée par l'aptitude du système à
produire
une forme vocalisée du texte d'entrée compréhensible par un être humain.
Les
progrès réalisés au cours de ces dernières années font que les systèmes
actuels (du niveau de l'état de l'art) permettent de produire un signal
acoustique de bonne qualité. On entend par cela une qualité jugée
suffisante
pour que la technologie soit déployée à grande échelle dans un cadre de
développement de services. Les progrès potentiels restent cependant
vastes
et un effort doit en particulier être réalisé concernant l'analyse du
texte
d'entrée.
On peut distinguer 3 grandes classes de problèmes sous-jacents à
l'analyse
du texte d'entrée :
- l'analyse lexicale, incluant la résolution de sigles,
d'abréviations, ...
- l'analyse grammaticale, avec l'utilisation concurrente de
grammaires
spécifiques,
- l'analyse sémantique, qui doit permettre de lever les
ambiguïtés
résiduelles en
se basant sur le sens porté par le texte.
Le sujet de thèse proposé porte sur l'utilisation intégrée de ces
différentes classes d'analyse dans le but de produire, à partir du texte
d'entrée, la forme de surface la mieux adaptée à la problématique
sous-jacente à l'utilisation d'un système de synthèse de parole. On se
concentrera en particulier sur l'apport potentiel que peut représenter
une
analyse thématique, vue ici comme une forme fléchie d'analyse sémantique
basée sur une classification en thèmes des mots du lexique. Différentes
approches d'intégration devront être étudiées et un formalisme global
devra
être défini. La validation des travaux sera envisagée dans le contexte
applicatif de la lecture vocale de messages électroniques.

Entropic Ltd is seeking software engineers to work on the development
of spoken dialogue tools and systems. The position will involve
rendering web-based dialogs using speech recognition and synthesis
technology to produce natural human-computer interactions. Successful
applicants will develop web browsing techniques to handle dialogs
specified on Internet pages and contribute to the design and
implementation of voice mark-up languages.
Candidates should have a good honours degree or equivalent in a
relevant subject, good communication skills and a confirmed interest
in speech recognition, NLP or Internet applications. Experience of
system software development, preferably using C/C++, internet
protocols and scripting using Javascript or Tcl are all desirable.
