In Shetland (and Faroe, for that matter) we do this all the time - 'Willie
o da Boyne', 'Lowrie o da Vaa', 'Ertie o Waster Houbie', etc.

Reminds me of an illustration I once saw of a 'medieval' type of spade,
which was identical to the implement used every day on a Shetland croft
when I was young - it's only gone out of use in the last twenty years or so.
