Dag, almal!

Ron se soeke na die herkoms van _kandidel_ het my verby Latyn (_candere_: 'om te
skyn' en _candides: 'wit') tot by die Sanskrit (_khanda_: 'wit suiker') gebring.

In Noordwes Afrikaans beteken die troetelnaampie _kandas_ :
vrolik/bly/mooi, en dit was blykbaar ook die naam van 'n sekere Ethiopiese
koningin, Candace.
(Volgens Boshoff se _Afrikaanse Etimologieë_

'n Telrympie uit my kleintyd was:
"Kandidel, kandoedel, kandas
Jy's die eerste om aan te pas" (vir die roksoom-vassteek-foltering)

Vir wat dit mog werd wees...
