I assume this is a nice little Scandinavian loan example in Scots.  Or?  Cf.
Old Norse _gráta_ > Faroese _gráta_ -> _grætur_, Danish _græde_, Norwegian
(Bokmål) _gråte_ ~ _gret_, Norwegian (Nynorsk) _gråte_ -> _græter_, Swedish
_gråta_ 'to weep', 'to cry'.
