I thought this was an exhaustive definition but from Roger's reply I should

obviously should have added "for English speakers"!

I don't think the pronunciation of "j" has changed in the last 25 years.

If the dictionary is doing what you need it to, I
don't see any difference whether it indicates the
English <j> sound with one or two symbols: either will
tell you the accurate pronunciation.
