Hi Folk:

Robin Huggett [rhuggett at datasource.net]
quoted from the Belfast Telegraph online:

> AN SDLP councillor is calling on nationalists to help the Ulster Scots
> movement.
> Carmel O'Boyle, a member of Down District Council, ... (snip) ...obtained
> support for a motion calling on the SDLP controlled council to set up a
working
> party to examine ways of promoting the Irish and Ulster Scots languages ...

snip

A distinction that I have not seen made here is that while Scots, Ulster Scots,
and English are linguistic siblings, Irish is ..."one of the [Celtic family of]
languages; esp., Scottish or Irish Gaelic." (paraphrased from Webster)
My apologies if this clarification is redundant.

Gerald
