Subject: Help with Frisian

Hello,
I am new to the list and need some help. I am interested in learning
Frisian, (Western). I am by no means a linguist as I speak only one
language....English. I am looking for some materials that will teach a
"beginner" how to speak and read Frisian. I made a list from the
"off-line materials list" but I have been unable to find any of the
recommended materials, they are either out of print or I can not find
them at all. Can any one give me recommendations on what to purchase
and where?
Thank you for your input.
Sincerely
Chérie

Subject: Language varieties

Walking downtown Antwerp incidentally let one find on the flee market some
interesting books. Today I found some stuff in Lowland varieties. At least
I think what I found is interesting, in Germany people may have it standard

in their bookshelves.

Here it comes;

a - Rektor H. Specht, Das Bentheimer Land,
    V. Grafschafter Volksreime und Sprichwörter,
    1. Teil: Die Sammlung,
Verlag des Heimatvereins der Grafschaft Bentheim, 1930, 190 pp.
(With ink-stamped p. 1 and 3:
 H. Specht, Rektor
 Nordhorn
 Grafschaft Bentheim)

-- a sample, quote (p.47):

Bi't Spölln - Afftelln

216. Ick tell of,
   èn duw bis droff

217. Aff, kaff,
   dat bin icke nich,
   dat biß du

...235. Tick, tack, toll,
de Buur, dee namm 'ne Knoll'
   vàn de Waagn,
   sonder iemant te vragn,
de Knoll, dee was soa heet,
dat de Buur sick vàn Benouthäit
   in de Buckse ßcheet.

Jahrbuch des Vereins für niederdeutsche Sprachforschung,
