Traditionally in Scots dogs say "bowf!". However, in the last couple
of decades the meaning of this word has been twisted into a slang
term meaning "vomit" (as if any more of those were needed). I suppose
the connection is that they both involve opening the mouth wide.

It's actually quite hard to use "bowf" in its traditional sense
nowadays, unfortunately.
