A variant here (at least) is the prank of "giving someone a wedgie", by
grabbing the top rear of the underwear/panties and yanking them up quite
forcefully.  Yes, I know this is irrelevant to your inquiry, but I couldn't
resist.

Thanks for this special sharing, Ed.  Yes, it's one of the jewels of North
American culture I discovered soon after arrival, albeit not as a recipient of
it so far.  (Yeah, like anyone would dare!)  Let it be said that it is
practised mostly among school children, though, given sufficient inebriation,
it may occasionally be practised by supposedly more mature people.

With regard to Zeelandic (Zeeuws), Tom wrote:

That would be cool with me.  However, think about the consequences, i.e., the
obligations this would entail.  If you read the introduction at that web site
(http://www.zeeuws.cjb.net), you will notice that the argument is that
Zeelandic and Western Flemish overlap, which leads me to assume that, if one
is granted separate status the other ought to gain this status also, either
separately or combined as "West-Flemish-Zeelandic".  Remember that so far we
had treated both as dialect groups of Dutch.

On the basis of past experience, I expect that most LL-L subscribers will take
the stance that these variety groups ought to be granted separate status if
the speakers so desire.  So far, Lowlands-L has been rather open-minded in
these matters and has been quite willing to go along with the notion of
separate language status even where this status had not yet been officially
granted by the respective governments (e.g., Low Saxon/Low German, Limburgish
and Scots).

If we decide to treat Zeelandic and West Flemish as languages in their own
right or as one language in its own right, then this ought to be reflected in
our online publications.  We would need to have the LL-L introduction in these
varieties as well.  (And I'm still waiting for a Limburgish version so I can
post it.)  We would also need to have online and offline resource lists for
these varieties (and for Limburgish).
