My first thought was 'But are the directors of McEwans (or their
workforce) predominantly women?'  In Southern -ers were men who did
stuff, and -sters were women who did stuff - spinner/spinster,
baker/baxter being other pairings.

Is this change of use from 'women-who' to 'people-who' common across all
the -ster words?
