Sandy,

Thank you for your fascinating additions to my White Lady files!

I am fascinated by Halstock. Hiding in there is that syllable "hal-"
("holy"). This would seem to be part of the large complex of English words
heal/whole/weal/well/holy, etc. And yet it is the same as the "hal" I saw
in a Low German dictionary several years ago meaning "hell" or "bright." I
am determined that I won't see an etymological relationship where none
exists, but I also won't be surprised if one shows up!

Thanks for making my day,

Dawn
