Subject: old saxon/ old germanic texts and legends

hey, members

I am Sander Hunink, and i'm a new member with lots of questions you
might
willing to answer. it is now my 21th summer that i welcome and i finally
have discovered what i want to learn in my life. i always had the urge
to
discover the paths my ancestors once walked on, and one of those paths
is
that of the saxons and other germanic tribes that lived in the area of
the
Lowlands. I know almost anything of my possible history, as i have
searched
and teached myself the pre- and protohistory as well of the written
sources
about this area. However...

Now I have landed in the times of the old germanic tribes, aspecially
the
saxons, frisians and angles,as they descend from the same place. there
are
many written sources (Germanica and the Annuals written by Tacitus are a
real help), but some i cannot translate. To understand the saxons,
frisians
and angles and their behaviour (rituals, worship, laws of war and peace,
etcetera), I want to examine certain texts and legends in the old
germanic
languages.

My questions are these:
- Is there someone who already have translated old saxon / old germanic
texts?
- Are there important texts or legends that are useful for my
examination?

I have lots of other questions, but these one are the important ones.
Once
I know where to look, I will be busy enough to answer a few questions.
Thanks for those who took the time to read all this and especially
thanks
for those who can answer my questions.

      greetings,

                 Sander Hunink

post scriptum: I am Dutch and I can speak and write Dutch very well, but
the reason I wrote my message in English is that I can reach more people
this way (for the benefit of my examination).
