Is 'tint' the richt wird. A wadna conseeder the loss o /x/ as onie kin o
organic langage chynge but straucht forrit langage replacement.
English forms replacin Scots anes mair or less ower ae generation. Whaur
thare's nae English cognates o course the /x/ bides in the wirds but e'en
nou /k/ for /x/ is spreidin in urban airts.
