In Lev. 13: 47-59 there are several instances of this word, in connection with
mildew in garments, where it is usually translated 'woof'.

Irrespective of this, however, your etymological explanation shows that the
root
is not the same as _?erebh_, evening.

Um - are we straying rather far from Lowlands-related matter here?
