Leslie:

My nearest reference is "broochki kostyoom" meaning 'pants suit'.  I
wouldn't doubt that the origin was with German sailors or army during
their invasion into the USSR.  As was the reverse, the introduction of
"bistro" from Russians wanting to be served "quickly" in foreign
countries.
