Lowlanders,

I have put a 19th-century drawing of a North German milkmaid
(_Melkdeern_, _Melkdiern_) on the Web.  (I'll use it in a project I will
announce shortly.)  In it you can see the typical kind of carrying yoke
(_Dracht_) as well as the typical kind of (milk) pail (_Ammer_,
_Melkammer_).  Oh, and the girl wears a _Dracht_, a local costume for
summertime, with a straw hat.
