Haai Laaglanders

Willem Oosthuizen willem_oosie at hotmail.com vra in verband met "dear" wat
'duur' en 'liefling' beteken: "Is die Afrikaanse woord duur dalk
afkomstig van Engels? Of kom hierdie woord dalk uit Nederlands of een
van die ander tale van die Laaglande?"

Die twee betekenisse kom ook albei in Mennoniete Plautdietsch voor.
Dalk was daar 'n soort 'lobolo'-sisteem (bruidsprys) wat die twee
betekeniss oorspronklik aan mekaar verbind het.
