Though I was only a few months old at the time, and in a different
country,
Canadians say "You're welcome", and also thanks for sending so many of
your
children to Canada after the war who have made such a tremendous
contribution to this country.  And co-incidentally inspiring me to be
interested in the Frisian language.

My own informant, Nick Klynstra, who passed away a year ago last March,
was
in the resistance during the war and told me many of his experiences
during
that time, including rescuing his brother from Auschwitz and blowing up
a
newly launched minesweeper in Hamburg together with a Russian and a
Frenchman who were also slave labourers with him.  I think the Germans
are
still looking for the guys that pulled that one off.......
