Subject: Technical problem

Hello Ron, Hello Lowlanders !

Some time ago there was a note on problems reading my postings in cases
where I used "Umlaute" (the letters with two dots above) or letters with
accents. I forgot about this meanwhile but a few days ago I received a
mail
by Friedrich-Wilhelm (Fiete) Neumann reporting the same problem. On the
other hand I recently received news from the list showing Kanji
(japanese-
chinese characters) instead of Ron's Sampa-transscriptions. Please, help
to
solve this problem.
I don't use any uncommon formatting, just plain text and standard font
settings (Western Europe ISO).
I remember a somewhat similar experience with a discussion-forum on the
web
where the problem was solved when a font called "clean" was deleted from
the forum software. It can also depend on the hierarchy of fonts in the
background.
Ron, maybe You can check that out and find a solution.

Kind regards
Holger

Holger,

I don't have an answer for you, just need to let you know that I, too,
only get gobbledigook for any of the "special" characters in all of your
communication. I don't have that in messages from anyone else, so I
believe it has something to do with your settings.

Well, Sandy Fleming has this problem getting "special characters" in my
messages. (Apparently they are just filtered out at his end.) He told
me he has this problem only with me and one other person, and we have
not been able to figure it out so far.

I seem to have no problems at all between my system and those of other
people, and the archived LL-L issues all look all right.

Hopefully *some* one will be able to solve the riddle *some* day.

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
