Here in Zeeland, 'Whit' as Nigel calls it, is still one of the most
important holidays of the year. And not only to the churchgoing part of
the
population. Here, on the isle of Walcheren, after Whit Sunday
(_Pienkster_)
and Monday (_Pienkster-tweê_), even Whit Tuesday (_Pienkster-driee_) is
celebrated. For many people on the island it is a day-off, especially
for
those who work for local companies. Several villages have festivities
like
the traditional sport _rienkriee_ ('tilt to the ring').

regards,

Marco

Over Pinksteren, in Nederland hebben we nog steeds twee dagen vrij met
Pinksteren. We zijn de Joods-Christelijke feestdagen nog niet vergeten.

We still have two days off with Pentacost, we haven't forgotten the
Jewish- Christian holydays yet. Here in the Netherlands. (What they use
the
days for , well some do go to the Motor cross...and not to church...)
