Sandy,

the song "Cock o' the North" that I quoted is presumably Irish, not
Scottish, so who knows whether it refers to the same thing. I once heard it
in a live concert by the Fureys (I think I'm getting closer to the
spelling...), and they explained before they sang it that it was a
constellation. That's all I know, I'm afraid.
