Dear Shirley,
   I am delighted to know that you keep our language alive in your corner of
North America.  Keep it up, and hang on to it!  Perhaps sometime you could
tell us a bit about your dialect (also from where in Europe it came) and
about your community there in Illinois.  I would be very grateful to you for
it, as no doubt other Lowlanders would be.
   Did your ancestors come from Eastern Friesland?  (Then you’d say _taal_
instead of _spraak_ for ‘language’.)
