As soon as I sent the message I realized my mistake ...
Maybe my upcoming trip to Berlin clouded my memory and
made me think of Willy Brandt!  I agree with you about
Helmuth Schmidt; he was - and still is - very well reg-
arded in the Netherlands as well.

Helmut Schmidt is a fellow _Hamborger Jung_ (a.k.a. _Hamborger Buttje_),
thus from the Lowlands.  He is a huge figure among German Social Democrats
and is known and by many feared for his _Schmidt-Schnauze_ ("Schmidt
mouth").
