I would have to disagree too.  I work for a government agency in Texas that
handles unemployment compensation.  About 5 years ago we switched to
handling those claim by telephone.  In the call center industry (which is
quite large) the word queue is used in it's more customary sense.  Of
course, people don't line up outside the door, but they do line up waiting
for a customer service representative.  In our case queue is used as a noun,
e.g., "there's a call in the general inquiry queue."
