Hi Frederic,
A few remarks here.
Indeed Lille comes from isle -> isla.
Rijsel comes from  "ter Isla"  (on the island). In Dutch it is  Rijsel
(Look at the Michelin maps), but in West- Flemish it is called "Risle"
which is still quiet  close to its original form.
