Subject: Signage

Beste liëglanners,

About silly signage in Belgium, one could write a whole book, I guess.
Except, we don't really consider it very awkward, because it can be viewed
as a means to express one's respect for another community. I know, the
difference between Marc >< Mark is very small, but it also reflects another
pronunciation, and in the past indeed a different lifestyle even. The case
of Marc >< Mark is a good example in this respect by the way, because the
word _Mark_ etymologically means : border village. A (land)mark (~ to mark a
difference) between the Germanic and the Romance world for rougly 1500
years.

Kind greetings,

Luc Hellinckx
