2. Supplement op het "Woordenboek der Zeeuwse Dialecten"
This very morning the supplement to the WZD was also presented

It completes:
Woordenboek der Zeeuws Dialecten (redactie: Dr. Ha. C. M. Ghijsen), Tiende
Druk, 1998, Krabbendijke, Drukkerij en Boekhandel Van Velzen BV., ISBN
90-70697-12-2, xiii + XV + 1232 pp
p. i - xiii intro + spelling
p. I-XV : 15 maps
p. 1-1207: dictionay Zeeuws-Dutch
p. 1208-1216 addenda and corrections
p. 1217-1232 postscript + list of collaborators

The references of this new supplement:
Supplement Woordenboek der Zeeuwse Dialecten, bijeengebracht door de
Zeeuwsche Vereeniging voor Dialectonderzoek, ., Eindredactie K. Fraanje, 1e
druk, 2003, Krabbendijke, Drukkerij en Boekhandel Van Velzen BV, ISBN
90-70697-17-3, 397 pp. (I paid 59.50 Euro at the dialect day)
p. 1-31 Introduction + spelling + maps + names of the municipalities
33-255 (Complementary) dictionary Zeeuws-Dutch
256-391 sample texts in Zeeuws + some technical vocabulary

Since at last dialects day the CD ROM version of this dictionary was not yet
available, I bought it now (49 Euro versus 59 in commerce). It includes
audio (That's why I bought it).
The annoying thing is: the software calculates a computer code on your pc;
you have to e-mail that code to the publisher, you get serial number back.
So I'm actually waiting for a serial number for the moment, to get this
thing (hopefully) working (under XP).
The CD-ROM does NOT include the supplement.

3. The magazine "Nederlands van Nu", the Belgian colleague of "Onze Taal",
was announced to disappear at the end of last year. However it reappeared as
a dedicated section in the cultural magazine "Neerlandia", 2003, vol. 107,
nr. 1 (pp. 25-49)

Contrary to "Onze Taal" (from the Netherlands), which brings articles about
interesting things concerning currently spoken Dutch, "Nederlands van Nu"
still sticks to its mission to get Belgian Dutch improved, with e.g. already
the 10th boring sequence, 5 pp. long, about the quality of the Dutch in the
news magazine "Knack". To my best feeling, they better had redirected their
Belgian readers to "Onze Taal".

4. Website about Oostende (West-Flanders) dialect

I got this mail, referring to a website, with some pages in/about Oostende
dialect, earlier this week:

From: <danny.drooghenbroodt at belgacom.be>
To: <roger.thijs at euro-support.be>
Sent: Wednesday, March 19, 2003 9:29 AM
Subject: oostendse verhalen
Ik heb een website over Oostende en het Oostendse dialect. Op de site vind
je o.a. een on-line woordenboek, spellingsregels en ene aantal verhalen.
Misschien kan het interessant zijn om op uw site ook een link naar
www.oostendseverhalen.be of www.oostends.be te leggen. Natuurlijk kan ik
een link terug leggen naar mijn site.
Danny Drooghenbroodt
Oostende

5. Miscellaneous websites

In Vlaanderen den Leeuw, vol. 11, nr 52, Michiel De Swaenkring
(http://www.mdsk.net/), Allennes-les-Marais, France, some websites are
briefly reviewed:

Komitee voor Frans Vlaanderen
http://www.kfv-fransvlaanderen.org

Roepstem
http://roepstem.tripod.com

Oostendse verhalen (see above)
http://www.oostendseverhalen.be

Dictionnaire des diminutifs des prénoms flamands
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~northing/placenames/europe/names/Fl
emishFirstNames.html
(please combine both parts of the URL)

The European news agency for minority languages :
http://www.eurolang.net

A sixth URL, about the friends of Busbecq (Bousbecque, Boesbeke) is clearly
obsolete

A little addendum: a flavor of some French-Flemish expressions, from a list
collected by Jacques Fermaut, pp. 13-14 in the very same magazine:

Je zyt assan met ä kansel zonder gat
Je bent altijd met een mand zonder gat.
Tu est toujours avec un panier sans fond (Tu ne sais pas économiser.)

Än es uutäschut
Variante : Än es te platte coteure
Hij is uitgeschud
Il est ruiné, il est à plate couture.

Regards,
Roger
