Hi,
About makker...old english gemaecca, ( mate , fellow ) (that word
became the new english word "match")
You find the word in old saxon, and old high german too.

In modern dutch  it means  "mate"  (or "mates" makkers) or comrade.
I used "etymologisch woorden boek ; j. de vries, f de tollenaerre.  Het
spectrum, isbn 90 274 2947 2
