Latha math, a Lowlanders;

Luc Hellinckx mentioned that perhaps Romance influence on American English
caused a change in stress. I'm thinking, though I have no real hard proof to
back this up, that perhaps the influence of all the languages that were
spoken and are spoken in the US (perhaps Canada), IE Native languages,
Germanic, Celtic, Romance, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc, have caused a
stress shift.

Subject: Boston Accent

Latha math, a Lowlanders,

I'm wondering if anyone knows the origin of the Boston accent. Is it just
the gradual change of an English accent, effected by immigrants and natives,
 or is it an influence of the Irish language/accent?
