I think the blurb on the Web Page would clear up any misconceptions (or at
least one would certainly hope so!).

This all reminds me of being back in collage at the University of New
Hampshire where I was, for a while, president of our German Club. Needless
to say the rumors flew around campus and I think got to the point where we
were actually accused in one of the local campus "rags" of being a "front
for Nazism" on campus! It was so absurd, you didn't know whether to laugh
such ignorance off or take it seriously!

If we are going to have such a text at all I think the proposed
text is good. But I am not convinced this list needs it. How
often is this list mistaken for something that it isn't? My
guess is very rarely. Sometimes explicitly stating what some-
thing isn't can arouse more suspicions than not stating anything
at all.

Thanks, guys.

This is precisely why I have so far dismissed the idea whenever it entered
my mind.

No, we are not approached by such people very often. How often people
mistake our purposes? That I cannot be sure about. I know that, whatever
disclaimers we display, quite a few people still apply with the aim of
getting free lessons in one particular language they fancy. I suspect it's
a combination of wishful thinking and inattention.
