Latha math, a Lowlanders;

I read today that the Hebrew name for the Biblical Eve (wife of Adam, first
woman) is Hawwah. I'm wondering how we here in English got Eve out of Hawwah
(if that is indeed the correct word). I imagine from Hawwah it got into
Greek, the sounds changes, then into Latin as something like Eva, and as
Classical turned Ecclesiastical, the "v" became more like the English v, and
thuse we arrive at Eve. But that is all merely speculation. What do you
think? (Also interesting to see is other Lowlandic versions of Eve)

Beannachdan,
Uilleam Òg mhic Sheumais
