Latha math, a Lowlanders;

I've noticed in several people the trait of pronouncing the word "Alright"
as /UraIt/ (SAMPA, of course, though I'm new to it so that might be wrong).
Why has the "l" assimilated into the "r"? (To make this more pan-Lowlandic)
Is this a common feature in other Lowlands languages?
