Excuse me gin somebodie haes aiblins pyntit oot aareadies that
plimsolls is weel-kent in Scotland as 'gutties' (frae gutta-percha), an that
maist aften wi the glottal stop threipit on, a word delytit in bi bairns sen
it maks maist anti-Scots parents/teachers an the like raise thair een ti
heiven whan thay hear it.

Crossin the fingirs ti pause a gemme, whyles the fore-fingirs o the
baith hauns, wis cried 'keys' wi us whan I wis young near fifty year syne,
an ma faither reportit in his generation afore it wis 'a baurley' (a parley,
aiblins, for the origin o thon?)

The seeker in hide-an-seek an its variants wis designatit as 'het',
an that wad been ti mean 'hot', I think, tho the bairns that sayed 'het' in
hide-an-seek wadna likely kent that at the time monie's a place it wis
uised. Ti cry oot that ye war safe hame ye haed ti shout oot 'In the den!'
afore ye war touched bi the person het.

Nou, this is Lanarkshire information.

Aa the best

John Law

PS: Sorry if I wis supposed ti keep this in-threidit some cleiver wey, but
it's ower late nou.
