I wasn't going to ask - I know what it means!

"Mumbo Jumbo" is a place name - up some hill or other.

"Hokey Pokey" is a wolf.

"Caprineo" is a sheep belonging to the narrator, who is a shepherd.

The shepherd's "tit for tat" is his gun.

So it means: "As I went up by somewhere or other, it was there I met the
wolf carrying away a sheep of mine. Now, if I'd had my gun, I would have
shot the wolf, for carrying away my sheep."

Is it possible that "widnae gie", as you've written it, should be "wad hae
gien"? Otherwise it makes nonsense of a perfectly sensible narrative  :)
